Summit

I'm sorry, I have been slow at keeping you posted. Coming home has been . . . I don't know. . . all consuming.  Home health has been here. They are amazing people. The CT scan from Monday revealed new tumors and the growth of existing tumors in Cornell's lungs. This is compared to the CT scan from a week prior. His body has been through a lot and can't hold the cancer back. The scan also showed a tumor in his adrenal gland.

His oncologist, back from vacation, called Thursday and spoke with both of us. He said that the immunotherapy can have a positive effect on patients who are strong enough to eat, get dressed, and sit up for at least half of the day. Cornell spends almost all day in bed and has for a couple months. For weakened patients, treatment can cause more harm than good. After much thought, Cornell has opted to go on hospice. They will come Monday.

When I started this blog I just wanted family and friends to be able to keep up with Cornell's progress. So many have expressed love, concern and have offered prayers. Thank you. We have felt the love and have been surprisingly calm (so far) through this process. I wanted to let you all know how things were going and couldn't think of another way to keep up with that. Cornell's mountain 🗻 has been an uphill climb. But the peak is starting to come into view. It's not the view we expected or hoped for, but God has a plan. He has a plan for all of us.

The surgery to remove the tumor on Cornell's brain stem/spinal cord, gave him a little longer which was the time we needed to prepare . . . get some things in order. Cornell isn't in much pain, just sapped of strength.

He loves hummingbirds and had hung hummingbird feeders all around our porch. Logan and I rigged up a feeder that he could see from his window. He has been so tired, and his vision is still double, but maybe he'll get to watch as the tiny birds come and go.
