    We received a call from the Huntsman Cancer Institute this morning to schedule an MRI and a consultation for Monday morning 6:30 a.m. Then return Thursday so a mask can be made for Cornell for further treatment. We are waiting for insurance to approve that. We should know what the treatment schedule will be after that. Our Huntsman visit last Monday wasn't as helpful as we hoped. They were prepared to do tests that have already been done. It was a lack of communication. But, Wednesday we met with doctors in Pocatello. Cornell's cancer is melanoma. He had a growth on his back removed followed by treatment, about 5 years ago, but apparently it wasn't gone but moved to a new location (s) and has been busy.

    In Pocatello next Tuesday and Wednesday, Cornell will have a port inserted in his chest below his collar bone, then receive immunotherapy through the port. Possible fatigue, diarrhea and itching are some of the possible side effects.

    Cornell is in better spirits than you might expect.

Cornell's Birthday & 6 Months

I started "Cornell's Mountain" as a way of keeping up with informing family about Cornell's condition and treatment. The link was soon passed along to extended family and then to friends, associates, classmates, mission and ward family and more. After Cornell's passing there wasn't much to say and to tell the truth, I didn't have the heart to return here.  But we just passed the 6 month mark since his passing and last Monday, March 6th, was Cornell's 62 birthday, kind of miles stones. I doubt anyone still comes here, but it seemed like a good place to honor his memory.  For his birthday, the kids, their spouses and grandkids and Cornell's brother Louis (in our various locations) ordered Chinese food or pizza and had cheesecake for dessert. Holding Pattern

It looks like there is no room in any care facilities in Pocatello, so we are putting off going home for another day while we work on a plan B, which might actually be yesterday's plan A. The lack of room is about a staffing shortage.  If I get to talk with the case manager before the end of the work day, I might learn more and then I'll add to this post.
